Our Team

A. Shane Anderson, MD

A. Shane Anderson, MD, FACR, RhMSUS, RMSK


Dr. Anderson obtained his B.S. in Biology at the University of South Carolina prior to attending the Medical University of South Carolina where he obtained his medical doctorate. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Rheumatology Fellowship at Wake Forest University. After completion of fellowship training, he worked in private rheumatology practice and served as volunteer faculty at Wake Forest directing MSKUS training for fellows.

Dr. Anderson is a prominent and highly experienced national expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is certified in MSK ultrasound by both the American College of Rheumatology (serving on the oversight committee which launched the program) and the American Registry of Medical Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS). He founded SoundRheum Diagnostics (the nation's only dedicated musculoskeletal ultrasound interpretation rheumatology practice) in 2014, and has gone on to interpret over 150,000 MSK ultrasound studies for rheumatologists across the country.

Ryan C. Jessee, MD

Ryan C. Jessee, MD, RhMSUS

Dr. Jessee obtained his B.S. in Neuroscience at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, prior to obtaining his medical doctorate at the University of Tennessee Health Science. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Rheumatology Fellowship at Duke University. After completion of fellowship training, he worked as an attending at Duke University, founding the first Duke Rheumatology Ultrasound Clinic. In addition to patient care, he was involved in graduate medical education at Duke, instructing medical residents and fellows on musculoskeletal ultrasound through lectures and conferences.

Dr. Jessee completed the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR) training in 2018, and is certified through the American College of Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Certification in Rheumatology program (RhMSUS). Dr. Jessee is also active in advocacy, serving in multiple volunteer organizations to advance the interests of rheumatologists and their patients.
